January lunch with Barbara Cathcart
Nottingham Hospitals Charity is the charitable fundraising partner for Nottingham’s hospitals, investing in improving the environment and facilities for patients, supporting staff development and funding medical research.
Barbara has a track record in fundraising for healthcare and medical research in both the UK and Canada and was responsible for negotiating the largest contract for neonatal care at Women’s CollegeHospital in Toronto. She also established the first Chairs in Breast Cancer Research and Paediatric Neurology at the University of Toronto.
Under Barbara’s leadership, over £30 million has been raised for Nottingham’s hospitals in the past nine years, including the establishment of the Wolfson Cystic Fibrosis Centre, the Breast Institute and refurbishment of paediatric oncology wards which are all at Nottingham University Hospitals. Most recently, Nottingham Hospitals Charity secured £1.3 million LIBOR funding, completing the funding to provide a new life-saving helipad at the major East Midlands Major Trauma Centre in Nottingham. The completion of their Helipad Appeal has coincided with the launch of their ambitious new Big Appeal, aimed at raising £3 million for Nottingham Children’s Hospital by 2018.
