Charity / Charity Services

Forever Stars (Registered Charity No. 1156990) is a Nottingham based baby loss charity dedicated to supporting families affected by miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death and infant loss. Since being established in 2014, the charity has worked tirelessly to improve bereavement care, provide emotional support and create lasting legacies that ensure no family faces baby loss alone.

Among the charity's most significant achievements are the creation of the dedicated Serenity Suites at both the Queen's Medical Centre and Nottingham City Hospital. These purpose built bereavement suites provide families with a peaceful, private and compassionate environment where they can spend precious time with their baby away from the busy maternity wards during the most difficult moments of their lives.

Forever Stars also created the Serenity Garden at Highfields Park in Nottingham, a beautiful place of reflection and remembrance that honours more than 1,000 babies. Maintained by the charity's volunteers, the garden offers families a peaceful space to remember their children throughout the year and has become one of Nottingham's most treasured places of remembrance.

At the heart of the charity's ongoing support is the Serenity Centre, which provides a welcoming community hub for bereaved families. Every year, the centre hosts more than 150 support sessions, workshops and activities for parents, siblings, grandparents, aunties, uncles and the wider family network, recognising that baby loss affects entire families and that everyone grieves differently.

Forever Stars is entirely volunteer led, with every aspect of the charity delivered through the dedication, compassion and commitment of its volunteers. The charity receives no guaranteed statutory funding and is funded entirely through the generosity of members of the public, community fundraising, local businesses and corporate supporters, whose kindness enables its services to remain free for families when they need them most.

In recognition of its outstanding contribution to supporting bereaved families and the dedication of its volunteers, Forever Stars was awarded The King's Award for Voluntary Service 2025, the highest award given to local voluntary groups across the United Kingdom and widely regarded as the equivalent of an MBE for voluntary organisations.

Today, Forever Stars continues to work alongside hospitals, healthcare professionals, businesses and communities across the East Midlands to improve bereavement care, raise awareness of baby loss and ensure that every family receives the compassion, dignity and support they deserve.
