Reverend Kate Bottley revealed as guest speaker for NCBC Christmas event

Reverend Kate is a well-known journalist and presenter who appeared on Channel 4 reality show Gogglebox, which features a range of families and friends from across the country reacting to various television programmes from their own homes.

Most recently, she was a contestant on the latest series of BBC One’s Celebrity Masterchef.

Kate, who is originally from Sheffield, is a priest based in North Nottinghamshire. Ordained in 2008, she was not raised in a church-going family but started going to church after fancying the local vicar’s son, Graham – they have been married since 1998 and have two children, Ruby and Arthur.

In 2012, she was approached to appear on the show Gogglebox after a YouTube video of a wedding at which she was officiating with a flashmob dance routine that went viral and gained over seven million hits.

She joined the BAFTA and National Television Award-winning series in 2014 and stayed for five seasons.

After leaving the show in 2016 and taking a break from full-time parish ministry, Kate has since been involved in a range of other media and broadcasting projects, including presenting BBC One’s flagship Easter documentary, In the Footsteps of Judas. She is also a regular contributor to the Pause for Thought feature on Chris Evans’ Radio 2 Breakfast Show and has written for a variety of newspapers and magazines including The Guardian, The Independent and Radio Times.

She will be talking to guests at the Christmas event about her time in the limelight and her rise to public prominence, as well as her commitment to her faith and belief.
